Redline monocog fixed2/11/2024 Here are a couple of bad pics from a ride with a buddy on one of our local trails in the last few days. So, who else on Team Paceline is really into these archaic, low-tech, fun machines? Anyone riding a SS29r regularly? It's all that I can do to resist going on a buying spree and picking up a few more to play around and experiment with. Plus, recently it seems like cheap SS29rs are falling out of the trees here locally for some reason - Redlines, Surlys, Vassagos, Spot, Gary Fishers, Raleigh, Jamis, and Kona to name just a few that have popped up in the last few weeks. I'm spending more time on the trails with them and loving it. I love my time on either of the bikes and have become absolutely obsessed recently with SS, fully-rigid 29r mountain bikes (probably about 10 years past their peak in popularity). They usually pick it over their own MTBs (nice, geared carbon or Ti hardtails) for rides with their friends.Īs a result, I picked up another Monocog (a higher-end Flite model with nicer tubing, slider drop-outs, and disc brakes) several months back. As the kids have grown, each of them has begun to use it more and more. It's become a member of the family and one of my all-time, favorite bikes. I quickly fell in love with how it rode and was impressed by how much fun it was on the local (rocky/rooty) trails. *** Thanks to the mods for moving the thread!īack in 2008 I picked up a base model Redline Monocog 29r to haul our kids around the neighborhood in their trailer and for light trail duty.
